Tanner & Sierra: November 2016

Almost a month ago Tanner and I had the opportunity to visit the country of Wales! Tanner's colleague, Duncan (also our good friend and a Brit himself), his parents live in Wales and took us with him to visit. Duncan's parents, Rose and Bob are both from England but retired and moved to Wales in the most quiet, quaint little town, just near the coast. His parents are SO kind and were very excited to meet us and were very hospitable. They were generous enough to allow us to stay in their home and went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable. Duncan's mother is a fantastic cook and prepared a few very English dishes. We had our first traditional English "Sunday Roast" which was DELICIOUS and she cooked it for us on Sunday, the day we left, which was a great meal to fill us up for our 3/4 hour drive home. It consisted of a local butcher's beef that was roasted, some roasted potatoes, parsnips and carrots, gravy, and Yorkshire pudding! The day before that she cooked us some English Pasty's which we had never had before. It was great that they gave us a proper English food experience. Saturday night that we were there happened to be the week before "Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night", a british holiday (look it up, it's quite interesting) and I'm not sure what town we were in but they celebrated a week early and did a firework show off the harbor! We ate some really good fish and chips as we watched them, we felt very cultured.

Just thought I'd take a picture of some Welch words... The Welch language is pretty gnarly!

This picture as well as the following are of Penbryn Beach. Fun Fact: This beach is filmed in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day".

We found out I had an ancestor that lived and died in a small little town about 20 miles from where we stayed. So we went and visited the Churchyard where he was supposedly buried. He died in the 1850's but all the tombstones that old were too hard to read so we weren't able to find his grave.
